“It was an incredible experience! It taught us a lot about service design, but more importantly, it taught us to empathise with people: those we were trying to provide a solution for, but also with teammates. Each of us offered a unique point of view, specific skills and enjoyed the support among peers.”

A team of five classmates from the Master in Advanced Studies in Design taught by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and Universitat de Barcelona, with different backgrounds in architecture, industrial design and interaction design. As foreigners living in Barcelona, they have learned to love the city and its culture and also to identify with its problems.

Service concept
WIPE - a service platform that connects Barcelona informal waste pickers, scrap warehouses and citizens to collaborate in the collection of items abandoned in the street, saving pickers’ effort, giving warehouses more metal to recycle and making the waste collection process easier, safer and faster.
